The legendary name Santro from the compact hatchback segment is finally back after its holidays. Hyundai has finally displayed the Santro ahead of launch occupying its space between the Eon and the Grand i10. The all new Santro is going to compete with Suzuki Celerio, Alto K10 and the Renault kwid.
Speaking at the unveiling of the all-new Hyundai Santro, Mr Y K Koo, MD & CEO, HMIL said, “Today is a historic and proud moment for us, as India has unanimously chosen the name of their Favorite Family Car to be called The All New SANTRO. The All New SANTRO is based on the six key pillars – Modern Stylish Tallboy design, Comfortable and Premium Cabin, New Age technology, Customer Centric Safety, All Round Performance and Complete Peace of Mind, to become a Game Changer and Benchmark Product in the Indian Auto Industry. The All New SANTRO will also debut Advanced In-House developed Smart Auto AMT and offer factory fitted CNG option.”
Hyundai Santro Design.
Santro will stand 3610 mm in length, 1645 mm in width and 1560 mm in height. The all new nest generation of the Santro gets more curvy design with proper cuts and creases. The DNA os the tallboy design is continued in this generation with more premium look. The front looks plusher with a sleek fascia. In addition, it gets a big cascade grill covering all the front bumper section. On offer are going to be halogen headlamps as standard. Hyundai is not going to offer Projectors or LED DRLs even on the top trim yet. Although the looks are going to be a like or unlike factor.
Having a look from aside makes it look charming with the pushback headlamp and a different styled rear window. Also, the Santro will not feature alloy wheels even in the top trim. Instead its going to get 14-inch steel wheels with covers as standard. The rear end is not completely unveiled but the spy images shows it gets a rear viper and rearview camera and bumper mounted name plate. Also the small tail lights makes space for windshield providing it a wide appeal and good visibility.

Hyundai Santro interior and Features.
One of the most important factor in the Santro 2018 is going to be the all new best in class interiors. Now, the Santro will offer more space with proper built and equipped cabin. The Sportz and Asta trim are going to get a 7-inch touch screen infotainment unit. This infotainment system is going to be packed with Android Auto, Apple Car play, Mirror link and voice recognition. The list of features is also going to be filled with rear AC vents and reverse camera. However, automatic climate control will not be on offer.
Hyundai Santro Drive train.
Under the hood will be a 1.1 L Petrol motor bushing out 69 HP and 99 Nm of torque at 4500 rpm. A 5-speed manual or AMT gear box will be mated to the engine. Mileage figures of the Petrol motor may be upto 20.3 kmpl. In addition, there will also be a CNG option and the Engine will put its limit upto 59 HP and 84 Nm of torque. The CNG unit will try its best to offer efficiency of 30.5 kmpl.
Hyundai claims that the Santro will be placed on a whole new platform that accompanies 63 percent of advanced high strength steel in its construction. It will get a front MacPherson and rear torsion beam axle in terms of Suspension duty.
In terms of safety it will be fitted with driver side airbag, ABS and EBD.
Hyundai Santro Prices and Bookings.
Expect the Santro to be made available in 5 trims. The base model will be priced as low as 3.7 Lakhs ex-showroom. The Launch the Santro will be held on 23 October 2018. The booking will be started online from 10 October 2018 with an initial booking amount of 11,000 Rs.
