When it comes to compact hatchbacks probably you may think about Alto or the Datsun. But hold on, the legendary name in this segment is going to be back again in this upcoming days. Yes! The Hyundai Santro 2018 coded AH2 is going to be back in the game. It was the first offering from the India’s second largest car manufacturing brand and also the first success story of Hyundai. Most of us are waiting from few months to get to see the avatar of the Santro. The car has been spotted at a dealership and is covered partially, but some of the design coding is visible.
In terms of styling, the Santro appears much similar to the Grand i10, infact it seems like a mini Grand i10. When it comes to design I can say that Hyundai has mastered the art of making a compact copy of their big cars, which is also seen in the Verna. So coming towards the point, the front end of the Santro gets cascading grille with the chrome border. In addition it gets sharp headlamps and the fog lamps have their place too close to the head lamps.
The side profile images are missing out, but it will probably be a tallboy design. The rear end is creatively designed with a large rear windscreen to provide wide view. Number plate housing has its location on the rear bumper and you can also see the rear camera peeking out below the Hyundai logo. Overall the design feels wide from the rear and can confuse some with the Grand i10.
When it comes to the interior, the job here glances creative and Hyundai has made upmarket presence inside the cabin. It features a dual toned beige and black dashboard carrying a 7-inch infotainment which may be packed with Android Auto, Apple car play and built-in navigation. Vertical styled AC vents can be observed on either side of the infotainment system whereas the vents in the corners are round.
What about the Engine?
Probably, Hyundai may offer 1.1 L Epsilon four cylinder Petrol motor mated to 5-speed manual and automatic gearbox. The efficiency numbers will be upto 20 kmpl.
What’s the Launching date?
The launch date expected is 23rd of October 2018 before the festive season. Hyundai is also going to complete its 20 years in India. So, the time chosen by Hyundai sounds great for the launch of the new Hyundai Santro 2018. The expected price tag will be in the range between 3.5 Lakhs to 5lakhs.
