The All new Maruti Suzuki Dzire has received lots of new and improved design changes and features to make it the premium car in the segment.
Maruti Suzuki Dzire Review.
The swift proved the definition of success for Suzuki and then it decided to enter the sedan segment. A decade back the most popular hatchback gained sedan platform which was introduced as the Swift Dzire and started its first generation. The second generation was launched in 2012 under the compact Sedan chapter and in the year 2017 3rd Generation started its journey. It has lots of improved specs and also made its own identity by losing ‘swift’ from its badge. Recently we got a chance to drive this car for the Maruti Suzuki Dzire Review.
Maruti Suzuki Dzire Review of Design Philosophy.
There is no doubt that Suzuki has used exotic ingredients for the swift as well as the Desire. Instead of bolting the boot to the known hatchback, Suzuki tried its own recipe. The new generation Dzire grows a whole new Heartech platform similar to the Baleno and Ignis. It now impels sleek and pleasant design nature. When viewed from the front, the first thing noticeable are those DRLs gazing bright. It also gets projector headlamps in the casing which is designed like a petal. Suzuki has also introduced a new grille at the front with a chrome border for it and four horizontal slats flowing from one end to other, housing the Suzuki logo. The front bumper too executes a wide appeal to the car by those big fog lamps housing, with chrome outline at the bottom.
Have a glance from the side and you can notice the design flowing smooth and continuous. It looks properly balanced and sleek. Maruti Suzuki has really played well with the curves flowing on this car and giving it a pleasant texture. The 15” alloy wheels too contribute to match the design with 16 spokes in it. Coming to rear end, it too matches the design very well. The design looks edgy at the tip of the boot lid and also the tail lamps get edges. The chrome strip above the number plate housing further makes some active element. The rear bumper looks simple and has two small rectangular reflectors on each side. Overall, the car looks premium and also has pleasant and smooth design which looks appealing.
Maruti Suzuki has really created delightful interiors for the Dzire. The Dzire follow lots of off-white treatment with a minimal black view. The Dashboard gets a black top on off-white body whereas the wood inserts in the dashboard and also on the door support, contribute premium touch to the cabin. Infotainment system in the Dzire is similar to the Baleno and powered by Android auto, Apple car play, built-in navigation, etc. The placement of the Infotainment and AC controls inside the piano black border, gives it a more premium touch. The cabin feels airy due to the white treatment observed.
The flat bottom steering wheel offered with wooden inserts adds delicious taste again. The controls for Infotainment are placed on the steering wheel. Just behind the steering, sits the MID cluster unit. This MID unit feels simple and gains Speedometer at right side and Tachometer at left side. Between these meters, the screen displays fuel efficiency, distance to empty and also has two trip meters. Also, the Dzire gets equipment of two USB charging ports, each at front and rear.
Maruti Suzuki Dzire Review of Seating and Comfort.
The quite impressive seats manage to provide an appropriate support. The driver seat is six axes adjustable. The bolstering are not as big as the swift but are appropriate to hold you in corners. I wish if there could be an armrest to provide more comfort. The frontiers on top get an automatic climate control. At the rear, the head and knee rooms are impressive. The rear seats are also altered well with an armrest and provision of AC vents at the rear represent a fascinating aspect. The rear seats can also accommodate three passengers with ease.
Maruti Suzuki Dzire Review of Storage.
It goes with a boot of 378 liters. The cabin also gets a glove box, door pockets, cup holders at front and rear.
Dual Airbags, ABS, Isofix and engine immobilizer are maintained standard. The top trim gets keyless go and engine start-stop switch.
Maruti Suzuki Dzire Review of 1.3L Diesel Manual – 5 Speed Manual.
The Fiat sourced 1.3 L Diesel engine needs no introduction, as this diesel engine is found in most of the Suzuki’s. This motor develops 74 HP at 4000 rpm and peak torque of 190 Nm at 2000 rpm. It features a fixe geometry turbocharger with an intercooler and common rail direct injection. The engine don’t really feels enthusiastic as minimal lag can be felt below 1500 rpm. The engine likes to rev between 1500 rpm to 2500 rpm, in this range it feels happy and somewhat silent. Post 3000 rpm, it starts screaming and revving above let the noise inside the cabin. Also, while cranking the Engine, the vibrations can be felt on the steering wheel and the pedals. Initially raising the car from zero is easy and smooth, also this motor performs well in city. Furthermore, cruising on highways too is smooth.
The Dzire gets 5-speed manual transmission coupled with the 1.3 L diesel. This gearbox has short throws, but rubbery feel can be felt while shifting the gears. The clutch is on the lighter side with proper travel. What I really liked is on highways you don’t need to downshift, unless you are below 1500 rpm while overtaking. But going hard on the throttle below the range makes in the lag from the mill. The Engine is audible outside when you are stationary, sometimes it also peeks into the cabin which is a bit unsatisfying. But the performance is best, when you rev it proper and also churns out best in class fuel efficiency.
Maruti Suzuki Dzire Review of Driving Statistics.
All new Heartech platform can also be seen underpinning the Dzire similar to its siblings. This makes the Dzire reduce weight and make space for power and efficiency. The front suspension duty is undertaken by McPherson Strut suspension and at the rear torsion beam can be found. The tuning feels proper for the urban roads. Small bumps can be absorbed easily and also no bounciness is found. Sitting in the rear too is comfortable, as the tuning is properly done. It can tackle small speed breakers with ease, but the big ones make your drive uncomfortable.
The power steering is light at city and parking speeds and weighs up with speed. Also, the stability on high speeds is impressive. The grip on the road is properly hold and cornering too don’t introduces body roll. And the best part is hard turning while shifting lanes on high speeds is the best thing I like to do with the Suzuki’s. In terms of braking, it gets front discs and drums at rear. Now, it comes with ABS and EBD as standard. The brake pedal has a moderate travel and bites the wheel properly and going hard induces more braking power.
Maruti Suzuki Dzire Review: – Conclusion.
The fully packed and new Dzire proved to be a big box of specifications. It is improved on a large scale than the previous car. The design displays smooth and proportioned. The Interiors make a fresh atmosphere in the cabin. Furthermore, the powertrain define the meaning of power with efficiency. The Driving stats are better than the previous car. Getting an overall report, it can now make the buyers happy. But if you are an enthusiast, then choose the Petrol version.
