Tata’s Flagship SUV is ready to get its tyre marks on the Indian roads in January 2019. Harrier is going to be the list topper in Tata motors family. Tata has started it’s testing since a year and is inspecting it properly, so as to make it a best product. The testing has been carried out over 2.2 million kilometers and some of the testing routes were Laddakh.
Lots of new elements and advanced features are going to be in the list of Harrier. Tata has also tagged it with “New Benchmark of SUVs“. Recently Tata has also started the Bookings of Harrier Officially.
Based on the new Omega Arc platform build between Tata and Jaguar Land rover. It’s going to take the driving experience to the next level.
Tata Harrier Exterior Design
The main highlight, which started attracting the people is the design of Tata Harrier. Tata has adopted new Impact Design 2.0 Philosophy for the Harrier. The design of production model is officially released and yes it looks dominant. As seen before in the Nexon, the Harrier too is more about similar to the concept model displayed in the Auto Expo 2018.
At the front, it gets not one but two huge and wide grille. The upper grille has a unique mesh design and also carries a chunk Tata logo. The DRLs running on the top edge on the either side gives it a sporty fascia. The headlamps are placed closed to the fog lamps to make it more similar to the concept model.
Moving towards the side profile, you can notice the window line making more space for the glass. This may help the cabin to be airy. The Tata Harrier is going to be a five seater car, so there will be two large windows. Being an SUV, it gets plastic cladding all over and chunky five-spoke wheels. In order to give it floating roof effect, the C-pillar will be finished in gloss black.
Coming toward the rear profile, you can again notice the concept similarities, one of them is the crease above the number plate. Also, the rear windshield fuses well in the blacked C-pillar. Tata motors have also given more cladding and a scuff plate, which makes the car look huge.
Interesting feature: – Tata tagged this feature as ‘Benchmark of Flamboyance! Tata Harrier radiates an unforgettable symbol of your style.’ What it does is projects the Harrier symbol on the road near the front doors.
Tata Harrier Interior Design
Not only the exterior, but the interior of Tata Harrier looks premium and appealing. The interior treatment is going to be dual tone with black and wood pattern. Aluminum inserts make the cabin standout more futuristic.
In terms of infotainment, the Harrier will get 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system. This system will feature Android Auto, Apple Car Play, Mirror link and all the basic connectivity options. This may also display the drive info as well as Maps. This system will output sound through ten JBL speakers.
The steering wheel will be leather wrapped and also feature controls for infotainment as well as cruise control. The Tata Harrier will also get electrically adjustable driver seat with memory function. High quality leather upholstery will be used in the Top trim.
Just behind the steering wheel, it may get an advanced MID cluster unit. These unit will display two trip meters, Digital speedo and tachometers and all the bells and whistles. Some features like Automatic headlamps, Automatic vipers, tyre pressure monitoring system will also be on offer. This cluster unit will also display fuel efficiency and distance to empty.
In terms of comfort, the Harrier will get an Automatic climate control AC with rear AC vents. On offer will be driver armrest as well as rear armrest.
Tata Harrier Power Train
Powering the Tata Harrier will be a 2.0 L Diesel engine, Tata has named it as Kryotec. This motor will produce 140 Horse Power. Tata also claims it as best diesel motor. This motors will also be light on weight and also have low friction valve train architecture.
This engine will get an advanced electronically controlled variable geometry turbo charger (eVGT). As per Tata motors, it will be a silent and also has low carbon foot prints. This motor will also get advanced Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) and Exhaust after treatment system.
The drive train gets will be coupled with six speed manual as well as six speed automatic gearbox. This will also get various drive modes and ESP terrain response.
The petrol engine is not yet revealed, but it may be announced later.
Tata Harrier Platform
The Tata Harrier is based on the Omega Arc platform which has optimal modular efficiency. This platform is jointly developed between Tata and Jaguar Land Rover. This chassis has robust build quality and reliability. This is built on an advanced manufacturing line, the line was setup in six months.
Jaguar has rolled out 1 million SUV on this platform. This platform uses high strength steel to provide more strength. Also has improved torsional and bending stiffness. This overall will improve the driving dynamics of the car.
In order to make the car safer, Tata has also focused on crumple zones. Tata also claims quiet cabin as proper insolation use has been made.
The new platform will also maintain the mileage of the Harrier and also maintain it stable on rough roads. The video tests show how well the Harrier stands out in the bad conditions.
Tata Harrier Price
As the Harrier is going to be only in Diesel, the Harrier may be in the price range from 15 lakhs to 20 Lakhs ex-showroom Delhi. Petrol version of the Harrier is not yet announced but can be launched later.

Tata Harrier Bookings and Launch Date
Bookings of the Harrier have been started with a payment of 30,000 INR at Tata Dealership or you can also book it online from the harrier website. The Tata Harrier will be launched in January 2019 and may be on sale from February or March 2019.
